Documents submitted for an Apostille or Certificate of Authentication must comply with the following guidelines:

Vital records (certificates of birth, death, and marriage) must be issued within the last five years
-
Certificates issued by the Probate Court need to have handwritten signatures because signature stamps are not acceptable.
-
In order to obtain apostilles for school records you need a signed and authorized copy of your diploma or transcript from the office of the school registrar and also a note on the school letterhead acknowledging that the copy is correct.
-
If you need apostilles issued for corporate records, you need hand-signed certified photocopies issued by the Georgia Secretary of State Corporations Division. Copies obtained directly from the Georgia Secretary of State Corporations Division website are not acceptable for apostille.
-
Documents that have been notarized, such as school records, affidavits, or power of attorney, don’t need any supplementary certification stating the commission dates if they follow Georgia’s notary rules including completion of a typed or handwritten notarial certificate, pen-in-hand signature, clear stamp or seal and the correct data of signature present on the document.
