What we will do:

• Review if your Original Document is acceptable to be presented for Apostille or Certification to the Office of the Maine Secretary of State

• Submit in Person Document to the Office of the Maine Secretary of State in Augusta

​

• Obtain an Apostille Directly from the Authentications Department within 2 business days

​

• Return the Original Apostille with FedEx Overnight, or International Priority to the provided address

​

• Upon request, we will email you the scanned copy of the ready Apostille

 

 

Apostille the Original Document is for you if:

• Your Original Document meets Secretary of State Requirements and can be accepted for an Apostille or Certification

​

• You can request a new Certified copy acceptable by the Secretary of State

​

• The Requesting Party will accept only an Apostille on the Original Document

Documents submitted for an Apostille or Certificate of Authentication must comply with the following guidelines:

• The most common reason for this office to reject a request for these special certifications is due to an error by the Notary Public - the lack of a notarial statement is the most common error. A notarial statement must be included on or attached to the document. A notarial statement is the wording, usually at the end of a document, that identifies the steps a notary public has performed in witnessing a signature.

• Birth, marriage, death certificates, and other vital records must be issued in Maine by the state, court, or municipal officials.

​

• The same guidelines apply to divorce decrees. Make sure you have a recent copy issued by the appropriate court.

​

• For academic records, diplomas, and transcripts issued by universities in Maine such as the University of New England, University of Maine, Colby College, and others, you need notarized copies of your school records issued by the school registrar.
